Love them or loathe them, your body changes so much during pregnancy it’s hard to get by without the need to buy maternity clothes. Let’s be honest, buying an entirely new wardrobe only to be worn for nine months isn’t the most sustainable way of dressing. But the good news is that maternity fashion brands are changing.
Many maternity clothing brands are now designing pieces that can be worn during pregnancy, nursing and beyond. And some maternity fashion brands are even renting out pieces, so if you have an event to go to, you don’t have to buy something that will only be worn once.
With something for every trimester, here’s our round of the best maternity clothing brands…
Founded by Mia Seipel, Boob started out with a nursing wear collection, as the name might suggest. The Swedish brand now offers stylish clothes for every stage of pregnancy and postpartum. Made using sustainable fabrics, designs are stylish and minimal and made to be worn and washed again and again.
Isabella Oliver is a maternity wear brand with a focus on environmental, ethical and sustainable style. Thoughtfully designed with innovative details, pieces are intended to be worn throughout your pregnancy and beyond. The London-based brand uses sustainable fabrics and pieces are produced in an ethical way. They also offer a rental service and a pre-loved collection. Send them your old maternity clothes to be repurposed, recycled or reloved. 50% of net proceeds from their Pre-Loved scheme are donated to Oxfam to support their work helping to beat poverty around the world.

The two founders Johanna and Edwina met in an antenatal class when they were eight months pregnant with their first babies. Their vision for the company was born of their own frustration: they could not find the clothes they wanted to wear when pregnant. They now run the business from a studio on Columbia Road, Johanna has 2 children and Edwina has 4. Their new Spring/Summer collection will launch at the end of March.
MORI‘s capsule collection of maternity clothing is designed to be comfortable, soft, flattering and supportive. Much like the brand’s baby wear, pieces are made from high quality sustainable fabrics in the hope that you’ll be able to wear them for a second or third pregnancy or pass them on to another mum to be. The collection features 2-in-1 outfits that can be worn through every trimester, accommodating your growing bump.
Claude & Co
Claude & Co makes the cutest matching mama, kids and baby wear. Not technically a maternity brand, but their oversized fit tees and sweatshirts could totally be worn before and after the baby arrives. All of the brand’s pieces are made using organic fabrics and the pieces for little ones are unisex too.

Inspired by her mum’s maternity dungarees from the ’80s, she went about designing something that would reflect what modern mums want to wear. Best known for their organic cotton jumpsuits, the Beyond Nine collection is full of easy-to-wear pieces from voluminous dresses, to super-cool coveralls, and relaxed linen trousers. And best of all? Every piece is designed to be worn post-bump too.
